Leather: Leather is durable and easy to wipe clean. If you do happen to spill something, it typically wipes off easily. But leather is not the cheapest material available and so it may be beyond some people's budgets. Additionally, leather may not be the best option if you have young children or pets as it can scratch and wear over time.
Microfiber– Microfiber is also soft, comfortable to sit on. So it handles spills quite a bit better than some other fabrics, making it more stain resistant as well. The one downside is it does attract pet hair but if you have fur babies, you may want to consider that.
Cotton: Cotton is the softest and one of most popular fabric for women. It feels good on your skin and is ideal for hanging out. Just remember, though, that cotton wrinkles easily and may not always look great to your eyes, and if you are really careless with it then can be dirty.
Velvet-Superb and luxurious fabric. This is really nice as well and it can give an elegant look in your living room. On the downside, velvet can be difficult to clean and it may lose colour over time in direct sunlight. This is something to keep in mind especially if you are placing your sofa around windows.
Neutral Color Palette: If the palette of your home is neutral, (think beige or grey), and you would like a little bit of punch on your sofa, opt for a bright colour or funky pattern! It might dress it up, and your room can get a little cool.
Natural Light: For rooms that get a lot of sunlight, be sure to choose a fabric that will not fade easily. As a result, we can maintain the brightness of your sofa.
